SERVICE INTERVALS

I just read an article in a technicians magazine regarding oil change intervals and wanted to share some of the information.

What is the correct mileage to change the oil?  Most consumers are told that when in doubt to check the owner's manual.  However, is the interval the manufacturer is recommending correct?  In most cases, probably not.  One important piece of information to keep in mind is that oil change service intervals are a good way for manufacturers to make it appear that the cost to service and maintain the vehicle is low.  In addition, the long service intervals look good to the EPA and other government agencies that are concerned about waste oil and its impact on the environment.  So what do we recommend?  We recommend that service is a preventative measure.  While the manufacturer may recommend 10,000 miles for synthetic, we perform the service every 5K and 3K for conventional oil.  Oil is the single most important service item on any automobile and your automobile is the biggest investment you have.  A well maintained vehicle will last for years and many miles.

When was the last oil change service performed on your vehicle?  Call today for an appointment (530) 621-4591 or visit our website www.theautoanalyst.com to schedule online.
